The hours of operation for the Cardiolgy practice are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm. Your primary schedule will be sometime during those hours, with periodic need to work outside your schedule to serve our patients. What does a Scheduling/Referral Coordinator do? Under the direction of leadership, the Scheduling/ Referral Coordinator, RN is responsible for coordinating and scheduling out-patient cardiac procedures/ tests and inpatient admissions. Reviews new patient referrals and coordinates all scheduling's with the physicians. What does a typical day on the job look like? Efficiently triages and accurately schedules all cardiac procedures and tests by obtaining required information, coordinating resources, and collaborating with hospital departments. Keeps procedure schedule updated. Screens patients prior to procedures to avoid rescheduling or delay of treatment. Verifies orders are complete and appropriate. Informs patient and patient representative of any preparations or instructions prior to appointment. Ensures best clinical practices by assessing and triaging new patient referrals and provides guidance on appropriate clinic scheduling. Reviews incoming referrals and determines the appropriate scheduling based on severity of issue / acuity, prioritizing those who need to be seen first. Uses diagnoses and symptomatology to determine the most appropriate cardiologist for each new patient. Provides patient education about cardiovascular disease, testing and procedures. Produces reports on all scheduling nurse queues verifying that patients have been screened and confirmed. Engages in performance improvement processes both in the clinic and the hospital. Promotes professionalism through lifelong learning through ongoing education such as in-services, conferences, and CEUs. What are the requirements for the job? Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Licensed by State of Missouri as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a licensed, registered nurse, two (2) years, cardiology experience preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) required Strong organizational skills, Computer literate with Windows based applications. Exceptional customer service skills and a patient centered mindset. Excellent interpersonal and verbal & written communication skills.
