The Jefferson College of Population Health is recruiting a senior scholar to join the faculty as the inaugural Humana Professor of Community Health & Equity. The endowed professor will conduct applied research, teach courses, and partner with the Jefferson and Philadelphia communities on strategies to improve community health, with a focus on reducing health inequities among vulnerable and minority communities. All research specializations will be considered, including food or housing insecurity, social isolation, transportation barriers, and other social drivers of poor health and inequities. Candidates from underrepresented minority communities are especially encouraged to apply. The full-time position is based in Philadelphia, PA and is eligible for tenure.
Major Job Duties:
As a senior faculty member, the Humana Professor will work with other faculty, College leadership, staff, and students to continue strengthening the national reputation of the College through excellence in research, teaching, and service. Specific job duties include:
Conduct extramurally funded research and publish articles in high impact scientific journals.
Develop, revise, and teach assigned courses in the professor’s area of expertise.
Give career and academic advising to students and provide research mentorship to assigned doctoral students.
Represent the College at relevant community events, recruiting events, and on College and University committees.
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
Terminal degree in a field related to population health (PhD, ScD, MD, PharmD, etc.) and strong research training.
Significant track record of publications and extramurally funded research.
History of strong and productive community-academic research partnerships.
Student-centered, collegial, and collaborative.
Ability and desire to mentor and advise student researchers.
