The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing personal care and treatment of residents under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse. Responsibilities involve the performance of clinical support functions and resident care. The Certified Nursing Assistant performs specialized resident care duties to support the needs of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist residents with all aspects of personal hygiene (bathing, toileting, shaving, oral care) as directed by resident's Kardex.
- Ensure that resident dietary needs are met by following the dietary plan developed in collaboration with the physician, dietician and intra-disciplinary team.
- Provide snacks and fluids as scheduled or as requested within the dietary guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Complete accurate documentation in the medical record including ADL documentation as directed by the Kardex.
- Assist residents with attaining and maintaining their highest level of functioning as directed by the Kardex.
- Maintain accurate intake and output records.
- Promptly reports any change in resident condition to Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Supervisor which includes completing an alert on electronic medical record.
- Utilize good communication skills, answer phones and call bells in a professional manner.
- Assist with Quality Improvement Program.
- Assist resident with getting dressed/undressed daily.
- Turns and positions residents.
- Transports residents as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in New York State required.
EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or equivalency preferred.
