The Pathology Specialist (Pathologist Assistant) serves in the Anatomic Pathology (AP) section of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicines Services (PALMS) at the LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center and at the Dermatology Clinic locations within the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Must possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from an accredited college or university with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position? NOTE: Copies of transcripts are required at the time of application. Along with posing the above requirement you must also possess the specialized experience as described below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 11) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Perform autopsies in rotation with residents mid senior staff under the supervision of a Pathologist.; Describes microscopic slides, correlation of the gross and microscopic pathology with the patient's clinical presentation preparation of provisional anatomic diagnosis and final anatomic diagnosis (FAD) reports and photography of gross specimens.; Work independently to perform highly complex functions or in collaboration with pathology residents, technician(s) and technologists.; Participate in the orientation and training of new employees in Anatomic Pathology Grossing and Autopsy.
