The Indiana University (IU) Health Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a Board-Certified Gynecologic Oncologist at rank of Associate or Full Professor for a position supported by the Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center as a Master Clinician in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. This is a full-time faculty member position with the opportunity to join a division of 5 gynecologic oncologists and 3 advanced practice providers with plans for expansion of care to regional IU Health medical centers. IU Health is the premier academic medical center and primary referral hospital for the state of Indiana. The department supports teaching for the largest medical school in the state, a residency program with 10 residents per year, and three fellowship programs with a pending application for a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship.
The opportunity would include clinical time predominantly at the IU University Hospital and the Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis which serves as Indiana’s only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, but would also involve outreach care to our regional medical center at IU Arnett in Lafayette, IN. The division already provides similar outreach of gynecology oncology care to IU North in Carmel, IN as well as Eskenazi Hospital, the adjacent county hospital in Indianapolis. Faculty also provide coverage for complicated obstetrical emergencies at Riley Hospital for Children. This would also include access to protected time for open, robotic and laparoscopic surgery, chemotherapy, oncology consultation expertise, access to clinical trials, and obstetric hemorrhage/abnormal placentation surgical support. Our approach to multidisciplinary cancer care involves radiation oncology, pathology, precision genomics/genetics, social work, patient navigation, palliative care and extensive supportive services in our treatment plans. IU School of Medicine at IU Health has a strong record of supporting grant funding for educators and researchers. The selected candidate will contribute to academic excellence through teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Additional contributions could include leadership in the cancer center, clinical trials involvement, surgical teaching through simulation and labs, didactics, journal club, quality improvement initiatives, and committee leadership. This position will be required to work in a diverse team-based setting and support the department's commitment to education, leadership, and research consistent with the academic mission of Indiana University.
Indiana University is first and foremost an institution of learning, knowledge, and scholarly engagement. Compensation commensurate with rank and experience. The position is dually employed by IU Health Physicians and IU School of Medicine with a comprehensive benefit package.
