UChicago Medicine (UCM), one of the world's preeminent institutions for healthcare delivery, has partnered with WittKieffer, to seek a visionary, engaged and strategic leader to serve as its next Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer ("Health System CFO"). The Health System CFO will be a highly regarded and vital partner deeply involved in every aspect of the strategy as the system carves an exciting, growth-oriented path forward in the Chicago metro area. The CFO will play a critical role in optimizing financial structures and performance to drive expansion across the region.
Located in historic Hyde Park on the South Side of Chicago with origins dating back to 1927, UCM has blossomed into a $5 billion operating revenue entity with eight hospitals. With over 1,200 beds, almost 13,000 employees, and a robust ambulatory network, the health system has positioned itself keenly for additional growth. Currently, UCM is one of the largest academic health systems in the Midwest and provides cutting-edge care to adults and children. At the heart of the health system, the primary medical campus features three inpatient facilities and five ambulatory care facilities, and is designated as a 463- bed Level 1 Trauma Center for both Adults and Pediatrics. Known as University of Chicago Medical Center, these facilities consistently rank among the best hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report annually. In 2016, the system integrated Ingalls Health System into the University of Chicago fold, adding a 473-bed campus and 500 physicians and expanding the network into Harvey, Illinois. UCM is currently completing work on a new 7 story cancer pavilion and a state-of-the-art 130,000 square foot multispecialty care clinic in Crown Point, Indiana. Additionally, UCM has extended its reach with a recent joint venture with AdventHealth that has added 4 hospitals in the Chicago suburbs.
This is a terrific opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys collaboration, team building, and partnering with colleagues to enhance operations, optimize systems, and maximize the investments and reimbursements for a complex academic health system as it prepares for and pursues additional growth. The ideal candidate will be an expert at leading through influence and partnering to drive results and sustainability of the University of Chicago Health System as the system looks to expand its reach. Candidates will possess a demonstrated track record of professional growth and strong outcomes with an ability to collaborate and perform within a highly matrixed environment. AMC and/or teaching hospital experience is strongly preferred.
