The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) and the George Washington Cancer Center (GWCC) are seeking an oncologist to join the faculty as the leader of the Section of Experimental Therapeutics and Early Phase Trials who will provide leadership and direction, in collaboration with other members of the senior leadership team, for the development and growth of a robust clinical research program.
The MFA is an independent, non-profit clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University. The Division of Hematology and Oncology is an expanding division within the evolving, multidisciplinary Cancer Service Line of the academic medical enterprise.
The GWCC brings together the resources of the University, the MFA, and the GW University Hospital to expand current research efforts in the fight against cancer and to position our institution as the premier cancer care provider in the Washington, D.C. area. The GW Cancer Center provides outstanding cancer care, conducts groundbreaking research, and offers high-quality education, training, and community outreach programs.
The incumbent will be responsible for 1) creating and expanding an active early-phase clinical trial portfolio, including investigator-initiated studies based on GWU science, NCI network trials, and industry-sponsored studies, 2) managing an outpatient practice in malignant hematology or solid tumor oncology, 3) providing leadership for the Early Phase Trials clinical research team, collaborating with the Multispecialty Disease Working Groups, and the GWCC Research programs, 4) mentoring junior investigators with protocol development followed by submission of studies written by the junior investigators, 5) managing a personal portfolio of independent investigation, and 6) pursuing intra-and extra-mural funding available to faculty as sources for research and program support. This position is expected to start July 2025.
This non-tenure track position will be made at the rank of associate or full professor and will have a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $275,000 to $375,000. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be board-certified/eligible in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology and eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia at the time of appointment. Applicants must be at the associate professor rank or higher and have a demonstrated clinical and translational sciences track record.
