Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Accountant II - Fund Accounting

The Accounting Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering is seeking an Accountant II - Fund Accountant to join our team. We pride ourselves on prioritizing learning and development, and fostering financial stewardship for the institution. Join us today and help make a difference every day!

Role Overview:

• Collect, record, summarize, and report accounting transactions consistent with generally accepted accounting principles for healthcare and not-for-profit entities.
• Manage and reconcile funds, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and institutional policies.
• Prepare reports and invoices in line with compliance requirements.
• Assist management with the maintenance of the chart of accounts and sub-systems of the general ledger
• Prepare financial information to be provided to internal and external auditors as well as other regulatory agencies.
• Develop, maintain, and distribute ad-hoc reports as needed.
• Provide cross-coverage assistance to other accountants in the General Accounting department by learning day-to-day functions and acting as a substitute periodically.
• Closely coordinate with Development Office in review of large gifts and agreements
• Creation of funds/coordination with Research Finance to create fund
• Generate financial reporting on any philanthropic grant or special purpose funds; both internal and external reports
• Intake, review and create any applicable transfers of fund balances; process corrections
• Monthly review of funds for revenue recognition
• Reconciliation to general ledger

Key Qualifications:

• Experience working in Accounting.
• Experience with financial reporting and reconciling account discrepancies.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; experience with accounting software applications is a plus.
• Experience managing and tracking funds to ensure proper allocation and compliance with financial policies.

Additional Information:

• Location: Hybrid; 1-2x a year at 633 Third Ave, New York, NY
• Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Monday with Friday
• Reporting to: Associate Director, Accounting
• Pay Range: $75,500.00-$116,900.00
