About the opportunity:
Assumes responsibility and accountability for providing nursing care for acute pain service patients and their families. Will perform daily rounds on all acute pain patients including patient assessment and plan formation. Will act as the liaison between patients, patient care unit nursing staff, PACU/PreOp nursing staff, pharmacy, physical therapists, surgeons, and anesthesiologists. Will assist acute pain anesthesiologist with nerve blocks. Will establish database and maintain statistics for acute pain service. Will perform acute pain education for patient care unit nursing staff, PACU/PreOp/OR nursing staffs and others as needed.

Utilize the nursing process as the format for nursing practice.
Demonstrates flexibility in nursing practice.
Adheres to the standards of nursing practice as defined by the Colorado State Board of Nursing, AORN, and VVMC.
Provides care consistent with the mission statement and values of Vail Health.
Operates within the scope of practice for the position and license held.
Administers medication, implements or delegates patient care orders, accurately documents, and evaluates patient responses to care.
Participates in ongoing quality improvement as necessary.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Models principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

Experience:
One year of nursing experience required.
License(s):
License and certifications per the employee's contract. With credentialing by the Medical Staff Office.

Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing master's program.
