Summary:
The Operating Room (OR) Circulator RN is responsible for delivering and documenting patient care during the intra-operative period. This role involves assessing both the physiological and emotional needs of patients to plan and implement appropriate nursing care. The OR Circulator ensures quality patient care through adherence to perioperative nursing policies, procedures, and standards. As the patient's advocate, the OR Circulator maintains safety and sterile techniques throughout the procedure and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
Assesses and addresses the physiological and emotional needs of patients during surgery, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to established protocols.
Set ups and prepares the operating room by assembling necessary equipment and supplies according to sterile techniques.
Position patients based on procedure and surgeon preferences, prepare the operative site, perform a "Surgical Time Out" to confirm the procedure and site, and assist with moving patients to and from the operating table.
Assists anesthesia personnel with intubation/extubation, monitor fluid volume balance, administer blood and blood products, and support patient thermo-regulation.
Conducts and document surgical counts (sponges, sharps, and instruments) and handle specimens according to proper procedures.
Cleans and organizes the operating room post-surgery, including the proper disposal of used supplies and sharps.
Uses supplies efficiently and conservatively to maintain fiscal responsibility.

Essential:
* ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)
* BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
* REGISTERED NURSE (RN)
Education:

* ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE

Education Required:
Arizona RN License or compact state RN License (for travelers or non AZ residents); BLS, (AHA), BCLS; Advanced Life Support Certification(s)
REQUIRED: 1+ years related experience
Call after working hours on departmental rotating basis
Experience Preferred:
Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record or similar electronic record systems.
