The role you’ll contribute:
The PET/CT Technologist operates radiation detection and measurement instrumentation including gamma camera and PET/CT scanner.Properly administers radiopharmaceutical material orally and by venipuncture based on the patient’s medical history and in accordance with department policy and procedure and State guidelines.Selects proper technical factors by submitting exams denoting region of interest and/or pathology.Evaluates the technical quality of the procedure ordered assuring that only optimal images are submitted for interpretation.Calibrates instruments and records calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.

·Observes strict precautions in handling radionuclides to safeguard against over exposure to radiation ·Monitors contaminated articles and bed linens of patients using Geiger counter to ensure that radioactivity is not spread ·Reviews with Radiologist scheduled patient’s requisitions and chart before starting exam.Administers opaque contrast material as directed by Radiologist ·Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action. ·Explains nature of test to patients to ensure compliance and understanding ·Operates Cerner proficiently, troubleshooting problems with orders and make corrections within scope or user level ·Reviews exam to make sure adequate images are captured. ·Keep records of test conducted, test results, and usage/disposition of radionuclide and body products containing them ·Attend in-services and maintain continuing education requirements
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
·Associate’s Degree or Graduate of a Technical School ·ARRT in Nuclear Medicine OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) ·Florida State LRT License.
