Position Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the Bookkeeper will prepare journal entries, assist with monthly closings, bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliation. Essential functions include following appropriate accounting controls, regulatory compliance and GAAP compliance. Essential duties and responsibilities are detailed below. Other duties may be assigned.
What you’ll do: • Input vendor and staff payments and reimbursements for expenses to QuickBooks. • Review general ledger account codes assigned by staff to ensure that expenses are assigned to the correct programs. • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue invoices. • Assist with lockbox activity to ensure payments are correctly applied in database. • Identify payment discrepancies and resolve issues. • Prepare bi-monthly payroll journal entries. • Assist with the monthly close process including account reconciliations and general journal entries. • Extract data from database and import to QuickBooks. • Other finance related duties as needed.
What we’re looking for: • At least 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience and familiarity with the entire accounting cycle is desired. • The candidate must possess analytical, numerical, and interpersonal skills. • Accuracy and attention to detail are essential in the performance of responsibilities. • The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, detail oriented, flexible, and able to juggle multiple tasks. • This individual must have a willingness to follow procedures and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• The finalist must be able to manage confidential information with discretion. • Must be computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office programs and have knowledge of Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks. • Nonprofit experience and experience with Salesforce a huge plus. • This is a remote position.
