The role you’ll contribute:
The Radiologic Tech Non-Reg provides healthcare services, applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation at the request of a licensed Radiologist. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures. The radiographic procedures and related techniques include the discipline of Diagnostic Radiology.

- Performs radiographic/imaging procedures under the guidance of a Radiologic Technologist.
- Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiology procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required an deemed necessary per Radiology Director.
- Follows the “Standard of Behavior” guidelines per hospital policy.
- Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
- Maintains knowledge of and observes universal precautions.
- Demonstrates commitment of personal and professional development and pursues appropriate continuing education.
- Understands and supplies patient relation skills.
- Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action.
- Positions patients to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient’s ability and comfort.
- Immobilizes patient as required for appropriate examination,
- Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Includes x-ray energy safety.
- Present radiographs to a registered technologist for evaluation of images/radiographs, assuring proper identification is recorded
- Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
- Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
- Prepares for sterile procedures.
- Initiates basic life support action when necessary and exhibits knowledge and skills for monitoring patient vital signs and assessment, knowing when to notify a radiology nurse or radiologist of patient condition or need to initiate Code Blue.
- Provides patient education and is responsible for establishing whether female patients are or could be pregnant.
- Assumes responsibility for assigned area and reports equipment malfunctions.
- Correlates patient’s clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by licensed practitioner.
- Determines radiographic imaging technique and exposure factors under the guidance of a radiologic technologist.
- Pursues ARRT registration and appropriate continuing education.
- Assists in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy.
- Follows AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) at all times.
- Operates Cerner System proficiently, trouble shoots problems with orders and makes corrections within scope of user level.
- Selects and operates radiology equipment, imaging and/or associate accessories to successfully perform procedures, and devises a plan of action that considers patient condition and diagnosis and demonstrates decision making and assessment skills.
- Performs non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as appropriate (i.e., ERCP, OR procedures, patient status check, foreign body/metal check).
- Under guidance of registered technologist, evaluates images for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, assuring proper identification is recorded as specified by imaging procedure.
