Overview
Provides direct patient care for patients undergoing noninvasive cardiology procedures. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to safely and efficiently conduct noninvasive diagnostic studies and to facilitate timely interpretation of the results. Assists the director/manager/leads in the coordination of the operational components of the noninvasive cardiology program. Responsible for day to day operation optimization, quality control and performance improvement, radiation safety, continuing education on evolving processes, maintenance of equipment and supplies, tracking of noninvasive procedures and utilization, and compliance with accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
Patient Care:
Completes comprehensive chart reviews and focused cardiovascular assessment.
Completes nuclear stress tests, plain stress tests, dobutamine stress ECHO in collaboration with the ECHO tech, tilt table testing, Zio patch per established protocols.
Completes accurate and timely documentation of the testing according to the accreditation standards.
Prepares & administers contrast media or medications for NICT studies according to policy.
Recognizes emergency situation and initiates code procedures as needed.
Equipment Management:
Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all equipment in the noninvasive department.
Operates and maintains associated equipment within the noninvasive department.
Responsible for maintaining crash cart and emergency supplies.
Maintains drug inventory according to prescribed drug policy.
Responsible for maintaining radiation safety per protocol.
Operations
Actively participates in performance improvement process to include evaluating, reporting, and follow-up recommendations.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient testing and timely interpretation of results.
Educates and prepares patients in regard to their diagnostic testing procedure.
Accurately and precisely completes all required documentation.
Assists with completing Quality Improvement IAC program requirements.
Qualifications
At least 2 years nursing experience in critical care.
Dysrhythmia recognition skills essential.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills.
Oral and written communication skills required.
