The NICU Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse performs the role utilizing the patient-centered coordinated care model demonstrated through the following competencies: leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision making. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other members of the practice/hospital team to assess, plan and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs.
The successful candidate must be proficient in newborn resuscitation, intubation and stabilization, umbilical lines, PIV, arterial blood draw, ventilation management, needle aspiration and chest tubes, spinal tap, interpretation of x-rays, appropriate and efficient use of consultants.

Opportunity Information
The NICU Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse will attend high-risk deliveries and work with neonatologists to assess, diagnose, prescribe, perform procedures, and help develop care plans for neonates.
Responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team providing comprehensive care
- Evaluate and treat newborns in the NICU in collaboration with neonatal attendings
- Attend high risk deliveries and provide appropriate stabilization
- Performs therapeutic interventions as appropriate for care of neonatal patients
- Provide family centered care and communicate effectively with health care teams and families
- Adhere to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies
- Participate in NICU transport team
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
2. Neonatal Fellowship program preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Physician Assistant License.
2. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required
