Position Summary:
As a Charge Nurse, you will provide care to an assigned patient population in accordance with established protocols and multidisciplinary plan of care. You will utilize independent, dependent and interdependent interventions to restore stability, prevent complications and achieve and maintain optimal patient responses for all patients though centered/patient valued care.????
The CMC Charge Nurse applies the primary duties and responsibilities to the remote monitoring of patients for telemetry, virtual platforms, and the staff in the department.?? Responsibilities will include:
Attend Shift Huddle ??? report total number of patients being monitored on telemetry and by the virtual sitter
Review RRTs, Code Blues, Red alarms??
Review expired orders??
Confirming and verifying appropriate telemetry orders. Contact physicians when there has been no arrhythmia or change from baseline to request d/c of telemetry order. (Compile a list of patients that have not had any arrhythmia in the last 24 hours and connect with unit charge nurses to ensure that patients still require telemetry monitoring vs discontinuing telemetry. )
Collaborate with unit leadership, and the behavioral health RN to review current 1:1 sitter use and evaluate options to reduce sitter utilization by 1) discontinuation of sitter or 2) moving to virtual sitter option, when appropriate.??
Orient and educate new team members??
Communicate concerns in real-time with the leadership
Ensure open communication between the CMC and the units, as well as CMC leadership.??
Code Blue/RRT:??
Other duties as assigned by ICU/CMC leadership
Charge nurse role can transition with the growth of the CMC to have oversight of the virtual nursing initiatives in the future

Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Graduate of accredited nursing program
Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing
BSN preferred
License/Certifications:
Valid CA Nursing License required
ACLS certifications required
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years RN experience required in an acute care setting
Prior experience as a Charge RN or Relief Charge strongly preferred
One year of Telemetry or Critical Care experience preferred
