The Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) seeks to recruit a leader who will serve as Director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and Co-Director of the Pediatric Heart Institute (PHI). Qualified candidates should be committed to the Department’s mission to improve the lives of children through excellence in clinical care, research, and preparing the next generation of pediatric leaders. The new director should also be committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and be a recognized international leader in pediatric cardiology, with demonstrated leadership or equivalent experience and a strategic vision for the clinical, educational, and research missions of a thriving Division.
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is currently comprised of more than thirty-one faculty members who are an integral part of the Vanderbilt PHI, which includes pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, pediatric cardiac critical care, and pediatric cardiac anesthesia, with a dedicated team of psychologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, sonographers, ECMO specialists, cardiac perfusionists, and nutrition specialists. The Division supports an ACGME-approved Pediatric Cardiology fellowship program, with the opportunity for a 4th year of additional training in interventional cardiology, echocardiography, electrophysiology, and heart transplantation/heart failure.
With dramatic growth of the faculty, training programs, and research productivity over the past decade, the Division of Pediatric Cardiology is now positioned for additional growth and leadership on a national and international level. Research is supported through robust and broad research core facilities including genomics, informatics, imaging, clinical trials, and global health and connection to outstanding training programs in Pharmacology, Genetics, and others. With the Department of Pediatrics, the Division of Pediatric Cardiology supports a pipeline that facilitates the transition of pediatric physician-scientists from R38 through T32 and K12 to foster independent research careers.
Responsibilities of the Division Director include representing and leading the division’s faculty and staff, providing leadership, strategic planning, and oversight of the division’s in-patient and extensive outpatient initiatives, and collaborating with peer leaders to implement, evaluate, and improve the division’s clinical, educational, and research programs.
Academic rank, track, and compensation will be dependent upon qualifications. VUMC offers a generous benefits package to its faculty.
The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.
