We are seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant who will provide??high quality, efficient, team-based patient focused care working under the direction of our board-certified physicians. The Surgical Physician Assistant will assess, diagnose, and implement the medical care of patients in collaboration with the physician. They are clinically responsible for the provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive medical/surgical care using sound medical knowledge and pertinent standards of care.??This position offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive care for Orthopaedic Trauma patients at Huntington Hospital and within the Congress Risser Orthopedic Surgical Specialists (CROSS) practice. The role includes a dynamic mix of responsibilities across hospital consults, clinic patient care, and operating room assistance,??maintaining the cleanliness of operating rooms while adhering to Cedars-Sinai's health and safety regulations.??Our Surgical Physician Assistant will be responsible for the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:??
Perform hospital-based Orthopaedic consults, including initial evaluations, care planning, and follow-up.??
Assist in Orthopaedic surgical procedures as a 1st assist under the supervision of attending physicians 4-5 days a week.??
Manage outpatient clinic care, including patient evaluations, treatment planning, and follow-ups.??Most likely help organize and run an efficient fracture clinic to provide complete care.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care transitions between hospital and outpatient settings.??
Participate in pre- and post-operative care management, including patient education.??
Provide on-call support as required, with some weekend shifts.??
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.??
Work under protocol to develop an effective, safe, and patient-centered treatment plans.
Provide timely and complete clinical documentation in the EHR following patient visits or telephone calls.
Maintain ongoing communication with the physician regarding assigned patients and provide timely notification of changes in patient status.
Maintain ongoing communication with other members of the care team through written documentation, telephone or in-person conversation.
Ensure timely access of patient appointments.
Will be responsible for high surgical volume.
**Work Schedule**
Approximately 160 hours per month (40/hrs per week), offering excellent flexibility.??
Includes a combination of weekday and weekend shifts as needed.??
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies
License/Certification requirements:
National Certification as a Physician Assistant
BLS and ACLS Certification required
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required
Experience:
Minimum one (1) year Physician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area preferred, e.g., orthopedics or sports medicine, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties strongly preferred.
Minimum one (1) year Surgical experience as a first assist in areas of Orthopedic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, ENT and/or MOH Dermatology strongly preferred.
Physician/s in the group are seeking a strong minded, highly efficient individual who enjoys orthopedics.
Must be a team player who is flexible and willing to work beyond the standard working hours as needed, including overnight shifts.
