Summary:
The Supervisor Respiratory Therapy will have oversight of all Point of Care Testing (POCT). He/She will define the technical objectives and direct the activities of the region in support of testing accuracy, accreditation readiness, and associate compliance and competencies. He/She must have extensive knowledge of the Clinical Improvement Act (CLIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities:

Assesses apparent, predictable, and potential needs of patients and families in basic and complex situations and for a defined patient population.
Plans and documents comprehensive care in response to identified needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care in collaboration with the health care team.
Provides, delegates, and/or assists others in delivering complex care to a defined patient population demonstrating competency and excellence in respiratory care practice.
Evaluates patient response to treatment throughout the continuum of care in complex and changing situations.
Assesses potential discharge requirements throughout the course of care and takes a leadership role with the health care team to meet the patient?s needs.
Involves patient and family members in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of care.
Takes a leadership role in providing and assuring provisions of individualized education to patients and families as well as the identified patient population.
Plans and anticipates admissions and transfers of patients, including appropriate patient placement.
Delivers a concise and accurate patient condition report.
Serves as a leader in emergency situations.
Works in collaboration with the Director/Respiratory care staff to enhance the Department's ability to meet patient needs.
Assesses, utilizes, and evaluates methods of patient assignment that enhance Departmental function.
Job Requirements:
Education/Skills
See licensure and/or certification requirements.
Experience
4 ? 6 years of technical experience preferred.
0 ? 2 years of Leadership/ Management experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
RT or RCP License in state of employment required.
CRT or RRT thru the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
BLS required.
