The role you’ll contribute:
Under supervision, registers patients, ensuring patient demographics and account information are appropriate for patient account type as determined by patient’s visit and as directed by Rehabilitation leadership. Supports the operation of the Rehabilitation Department. Explains clearly and thoroughly the financial assessments, authorizations/pre-certifications, and/or benefit memos on patient accounts to ensure expeditious billing and to protect the financial standing of the facility. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Greets all customers (patients, guests, families, staff, physicians, vendors, etc) in a helpful and courteous manner while extending exemplary customer service. Anticipates and responds to inquiries and needs in an assertive, yet courteous manner. Assists all customers, guests, patients, and healthcare team with appropriate information requested
Registers patients for all services, ensuring patient demographics and account information is appropriate for patient account type as determined by patient’s visit and as directed by Rehabilitation leadership. Responsible for clearly explaining authorizations/pre-certifications, and/or benefit memos on patient accounts to ensure expeditious billing and to protect the financial standing of the facility
Meets or exceeds accuracy standard goal determined by Rehabilitation leadership. Ensures integrity of patient accounts by working error reports daily, entering accurate data, and documenting all attempts made to collect and/or obtain missing documentation
Supports Rehab Department through facilitating patient assignment
Maintains and facilitates appropriate supplies for the department
Performs eligibility and benefits verification and re-verification applicable to patient’s visit. Uses utmost caution that authorizations and pre-certifications are correct and as accurate as possible to avoid rejections and/or denials. Maintains a current and thorough knowledge of utilizing online eligibility and pre-certification tools made available
Escalates complaints or variances to Rehab Department leadership as appropriate
Screens and continually assists all incoming telephone calls and visitors to ensure routing to appropriate personnel within department and hospital in an accurate and timely fashion
Oversees prompt faxing of treatment plan of care, Status/Discharge Reports to physician’s office, insurance companies, Work Comp, and other entities as required. Requests signed prescriptions as needed. For Outpatients Only - Monitors audit error reports and updates Medicare accounts, as needed
Assists staff with patient care, treatment and other tasks by correctly and promptly carrying out assigned activities/duties
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

High School Grad or GED
