The role you’ll contribute:
To perform respiratory care procedures as outlined below, in accordance with department procedures and policies, and the individual’s level of training and experience
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Therapeutic Gases a) Administer therapeutic gases, such as oxygen, as prescribed, in accordance with accepted procedures. · Aerosol and Humidity Therapy a) Administer prescribed medications, including bronchodilators, via inhalation. b) Administer humidified therapeutic gases, including high humidity therapy as prescribed. c) Induce from the patient a sputum specimen for cytological or bacterial examination. · Positive Pressure Breathing a) Administer positive pressure breathing treatments IPPB, Ezpap, CPAP and Bipap as prescribed. b) Establishes, maintains and monitors continuous ventilatory support under general supervision of the technical and/or medical director. · General Tasks a) Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. b) Performs airway care, including tracheobronchial aspiration, and other procedures aimed at establishing and/or maintaining natural and artificial airways as outlined in the department procedures and policies. c) Performs regular equipment maintenance, preparation, cleaning, sterilization, calibration, repair testing and evaluation. d) Performs pulse oximetry testing according to the detailed procedure defined in the procedure manual. e) Performs pulmonary function testing. f) Performs bronchial drainage and chest physio-therapy as outlined in department procedures and policies. g) Is responsible for documenting hospital procedures in the EMR. Care center documentation occurs as follows: 1. Resident care charting is done in ECS (electronic charting system). 2. Resident medications tracked in MAR. 3. Billing for RT services on Respiratory Care Charge sheets which are given to main office for charge posting. 4. Daily resident work flow followed on Respiratory Therapy Treatment sheets. h) Assists in the quality assurance program within the department and the hospital as described by department procedures and policies. i) Provides patient counseling in all aspects of respiratory care. j) Arranges rental and sales of durable medical equipment related to respiratory care and prescribed by a physician.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
· Technical College, C.R.T. or Associate R.R.T. Degree – licensed through the State of WI
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
· 1 Years of Position-Related Experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
· ACLS required within one year of employment
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
· Wisconsin Respiratory Therapist License – R.R.T
