Position Description:
The Department of Nutrition and Food Studies (NFS) https://nutrition.gmu.edu/ at George Mason University (GMU) is seeking an energetic faculty member with demonstrated research excellence in the area of Clinical and or Community Nutrition to join a growing department (9 full time faculty). The successful applicant will contribute to the university’s mission through teaching, research, and service by serving as a faculty member in our graduate and undergraduate programs. The department of Nutrition and Food Studies has master’s degree (MS) programs which include our new Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (GPND) as well as general MS degrees with concentrations. Our NFS faculty also have the opportunity to teach undergraduate programs across our minors, and concentrations. Clinical faculty may also provide supervision of students at affiliated clinics. All NFS faculty engage in service activities within the department, college, university, community, and the profession. Candidates who have strong records of contributing to scholarship supported by extramural funding or clear potential to contribute to bringing externally sponsored research to George Mason University are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (face to face, hybrid and fully online).
Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and assist in recruitment of
Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program in clinical and or community nutrition or a related area, via publications presentations at professional conferences and obtaining and external funding.
Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession through involvement and leadership in national and or international professional associations.
May contribute to clinical supervision at affiliated multidisciplinary clinics (where applicable).

Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in nutrition or related
Ability to teach at the university level, commensurate with
Demonstrated record of peer reviewed publications, potential to obtain extramural research grants and to engage in collaborative research
Proficient in written and verbal communication in
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community.
Strength in biostatistics and research
Clinical experience in dietetics, nutrition, or related
Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic
Experience in mentoring / supervising students in a clinical / community
Demonstrated strength and enthusiasm in research mentoring (undergraduate and graduate students).
Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation
National / international collaborative potential /
