The Laboratory Assistant I will be part of a research team working to understand the mechanisms of circuit dysfunction that underlie neurologic diseases, including stroke and Parkinson's disease. Our laboratory pursues these investigations using multimodal imaging techniques and behavioral studies of mice. Duties will include ordering supplies, stocking the lab, managing inventory, making stock solutions and reagents, maintaining the animal (mouse) colony, performing animal surgical procedures, and performing animal behavioral testing. Once the Laboratory Assistant has acquired competency with all required technical skills, there will be opportunities to perform discrete supervised research projects as well. The Laboratory Assistant will be directly supervised by the Laboratory Principal Investigator (PI) and will work cooperatively with other lab members including a staff research associate, post-doctoral scholars and undergraduate students. Specific technical experience is preferred, but not required. Candidates should have excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively, and have a passion for neuroscience research.
Please note that this is a full-time, six-month limited position that may convert to career.
Salary Range: $19.90 - $23.04/Hourly

Required:
6 months of academic bench lab research experience.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to maintain an clean, organized working area.
Ability to keep accurate and organized lab records.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to perform duties reliably.
Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and new lab equipment as needed.
B.S. Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, or related-field.
