SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible to provide cancer genetic counseling services to patients referred to Penn State Health to include reviewing personal cancer risk factors and family histories, identifying genetic and environmental risk factors, and conduct a cancer genetic risk assessment. Discuss risks, benefits, and limitations of genetic testing when appropriate. Coordinate guidelines-based clinical genetic testing. Disclose genetic test results, which include cancer risk recommendations and options to manage any increased cancer risks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Graduation from a Master's level program in genetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC). 
• Board certified or Board eligible with certification obtained within one year. 
• Commonwealth of PA genetic counseling license or provisional license prior to the start of employment. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Prefer 1-2 years knowledge and experience in Cancer Risk Assessment and Hereditary Cancer Genetic Counseling
• Interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and self-awareness preferred. 
• Research skills / self-education preferred.
