The role you’ll contribute:
The Cardiac Catheterization nurse will provide quality nursing care by assessing patient status during Cardiology Related procedures. Demonstrates educational and managerial skills in dealing with other department personnel and quality assurance programs. Is responsible for nursing care for those patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
This role will include providing pre/post procedure prep/recovery for cath lab patients. Additionally, these responsibilities will include TEE/cardioversion, administering moderate sedation, pulling sheaths, managing sheath insertion sites (radial/brachial/groin), patient education, and discharging patients when appropriate.
The nurse will assist in obtaining bed assignments by coordinating with nurse supervision, provide patient transport, maintaining BLS/ACLS certifications, order supplies, and monitoring inventory.
The nurse will be the Cardiac Cath Lab’s primary scheduler. Responsibility includes speaking with physician office staff to ensure correct procedure scheduled and H&P available. Requires coordination with multiple departments to ensure anesthesia, echo technician, cardiopulmonary RN, and/or device rep/clinical rep will be available at scheduled time for procedures.
Applicants should reside or plan to reside within 30 minutes of the facility .

·Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand hygiene according to accepted standards of care. Identifies and prepares patient using aseptic technique as dictated by procedure ordered. Exhibits awareness of hazards which may endanger patients. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and enforces safety regulations.
·Annually meets all required department specific competencies.
·Verifies orders and facilitates implementation, communicating with physician as needed. Performs treatments and administers medications according to policy and training. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and medications.
·Produces and accurately written, promptly completed medical record for each patient based upon the scope and complexity of the intervention procedure and patient clinical conditions. Maintains authenticity and security of the record, and follows prescribed process for amending documents.
·May perform waived and/or non-waived Point of Care Testing.
·Participates in quality and performance improvement activities with the goal to improve patient outcomes. Accurately documents and monitors activities as needed. Participates in unit/service line budgeting processes to ensure a cost-effective, quality-focused environment. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
·Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
·Current licensure in the state of Texas or in a qualifying compact State.
·BLS and ACLS required.
