About the opportunity:
Oversee the day to day operations of the security department for all of Vail Health?s facilities and assist with strategic planning associated with future healthcare security.
What you will do:
Conduct annual security risk assessments; develop security department goals and objectives; establish policies and procedures for department operations; and coordinate with department leadership for determining compliance requirements.
Manage security team members including contracted resources. Perform annual performance evaluations for security staff, including employment actions. Provide department leadership with feedback on current and future staffing needs to support organizational objectives.
Participate in annual budgeting for the department. Provide monthly feedback on any variance reporting and escalate issues to department leadership as needed.
Assist in the development and implementation of security related emergency procedures, staff education, practice exercises and response activities.
Conduct surveillance and investigation activities as requested or determined necessary in response to incidents and diffuse volatile situations through non-defensive communication and verbal de-escalation skills.
Participate in daily operational activities necessary for maintaining a safe environment. These include (but are not limited to) conducting foot patrols of facilities and grounds monitoring for risks and/or hazardous situations; circulating among visitors, patrons and employees to preserve order and protect property; responding to alarms and emergency calls for assistance; monitoring situations; cameras, property and events.
Generate reports of daily activities and irregularities such as (but not limited to) equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences. Monitor all security incident reports and develop periodic summary reports for review by the organizational entities in support of security operations.
Oversee and monitor all of the security system features (identification badge system, key control, access control, alarm systems, video surveillance systems, etc.).
Coordinate security staffing schedules, training and protocols to effectively monitor and protect organizational assets.
Identify and constructively communicate departmental issues and appropriately resolve conflicts in the management of security officer performance.
Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in security/loss prevention or related professional area required;
2 years leadership experience preferred

Current Valid Driver's license and ability to pass Vail Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria

Bachelor?s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field required. Masters Degree preferred.
