Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount up to $200 -000 & eligibility period one to five years are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

• Learn more Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized The incumbent is a Physician Assistant who provides medical services to patients under the direct supervisor of an appointed Physician Supervisor or designee at all times
• The work to be performed is located in the Imaging service of VANCHCS
• Review all requests for MRI - the individual medical record - and speak with the individual Veteran
• Then respond to a reminder or other pull-able device in the medical record to allow documentation and subsequent automatic population when a future order is entered
• Assist with device management
• Administering medications in MRI for scanning and conscious sedation
• Monitor Cardiac device patients in MRI
• Manage patient contrast extravasation and contrast reactions in the Radiology Department
• Protocoling imaging orders
• Assist with IV placement
• Provide patient/family education and counseling in preventive care - medical conditions - and use of prescribed treatments and drugs
• Obtaining consent and documenting procedures performed for which the physician assistant is responsible
• Documenting progress notes and summaries in the patient's medical record
• The supervising physician must cosign the notes
• Examine outpatients and inpatients to determine the need for further health care
• Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests - x-rays - electrocardiograms (EKGs) if deemed necessary for patient care
• Write orders and prescriptions for medications for the care of patient within the define Scope of Practice.
