GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Radiology Technologist Aide functions as a member of the patient care team and provides support to the imaging department to ensure optimal patient care. The Radiology Technologist Aide is under the direction of the Radiologist, Radiology Technologist, Radiology Nurse, Team Leaders, Operations Manager, and Radiology Department Director.
The role you’ll contribute:
·Escorts patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity, according to policies and procedures.
·Assists technologists and provides support to the imaging department.
·Assists technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning patients for procedures.
·Assists technologists with patient reports/charts, and delivering reports to patients and physicians.
·Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
·Performs post-procedural duties including patient discharge, procedure room clean-up, and supply restocking.
·Assists with patient throughput in the imaging department.
·Demonstrates understanding of safety, policies and procedures.
·Effectively communicates with peers, other health team members, patients and visitors.
·Exhibits professional behavior that reflects patient’s right to privacy, dignity and comfort.
·Maintains infection control techniques at all times.
·Provides and maintains a safe physical environment at all times.
·Assists in the orientation of new employees.
·Other duties as assigned by imaging department.
·Must be an active team member, be flexible, be able to function independently, and is adaptable and productive when requested to rotate to various areas in the department.
·Monitors patients in patient waiting areas and exam rooms.
·Anticipates and responds promptly to patient needs as they arise and as requested.
·Institutes basic life support action when necessary, and exhibits decision-making skills in determining need for Radiology Nurse, Radiologist or Radiology Technologist intervention.
·Assist in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy.
·Demonstrates basic understanding of radiologic procedures and all department policies.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
·High School Diploma or Equivalent
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
·BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
