Summary:
Manages all phases of the purchase transaction, including product, service and equipment sourcing, order placement through EDI or by other efficient means, expediting unreceived orders, and resolving pricing and receiving errors. Maintains compliance with the organizations established product and contract standards while working closely with customers to meet their needs and timelines.
Responsibilities:
1.Familiar with the organizations supply and equipment standards, and with active vendor contracts. Work closely with assigned departments, the Supply Chain Team, others in the organization, and vendors to refresh standards and contracts.2.Processes product, service, and equipment orders utilizing EDI or other efficient means of order placement. Strives for continuous improvement through fully utilizing automation in the purchasing process.
3.Reviews vendor price confirmations for compliance with hospital contracts, reconciles invoice discrepancies and manages backorders and overdue deliveries.
4.Manages order unit-of-measure, quantity, cost, and other exceptions daily, using feedback received through the electronic trading exchange, from vendors, group purchasing organization (GPO), and other resources. Communicates to the Supply Chain Team needed updates to the item master.
5.Contributes to the organization?s construction, renovation and expansion projects, working closely with department managers and staff. Participates in project meetings.
6.Procures capital equipment and project related quotes on behalf of or in conjunction with assigned departments, assures competitiveness of vendor proposals through bidding or use of benchmarking resources.
7.Reconciles assigned non-purchase order / Materials Management Information System (MMIS) invoices/vendors, verifying compliance with contracts terms and pricing.
8.Routinely interface with hospital customers to establish vendor / product ordering templates consistent with current supply contracts and assists customers in establishing reorder point criteria.
9.Participates in the implementation of new local and GPO based hospital contracts.
10.Interfaces with vendors when sourcing specialty products and negotiating equipment and supply pricing.
11.Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise1.Experience in professional buying required.
2.Experience in working in a Supply Chain Management department preferred.
3.Experience in healthcare is preferred.
4.Experience working directly with all levels within an organization.
5.Proficiency in MS Office Excel, Word required. Experience working with Supply Chain Management software preferred.
Education and Experience
1.Education: Bachelor?s degree in related field is required. May consider extensive successful healthcare experience and other formal training in place of Bachelor?s degree.
2.May consider relevant clinical training and experience in place of previous Supply Chain Management, Buyer experience.
3.Certification: Not applicable.
4.Years of relevant experience: 3 to 5 years preferred.
5.Years of experience supervising: None.
