Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Specimen Processing and Accessioning team in Phoenix, AZ.  The Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

Work Schedule: Night Shift, Monday - Friday 8:00 pm - 4:30 am. Required overtime 1-4 hours daily, and monthly Saturday rotation.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens 
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities 
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples 
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner 
• Resolve and document any problem specimens

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• No relative experience required; 1-2 years preferred 
• Previous medical or production experience is a plus
• Comfortable handling biological specimens 
• Ability to accurately identify specimens 
• Experience working in a team environment 
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office 
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blind test
• Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to work 0-4 hours of overtime as needed

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in a medical or laboratory setting (clinical lab, hospital, or diagnostic facility).
• High-volume data entry experience familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
• Prior specimen handling experience (sorting, labeling, tracking, or processing biological samples).
• Familiarity with medical terminology related to specimen processing and lab operations.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment (e.g., production, manufacturing, or laboratory).
