About the opportunity:
The Medical Laboratory Technician collects and processes (per CLIA) moderate- and high-complexity laboratory tests and analyses; recognizes problems; maintains instruments; and provides Physicians with rapid and accurate test results.
This is a Full Time Nights position working 3-12 hour shifts (11pm-7:30am)
What you will do:
Performs general tests in all laboratory areas including blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology under the supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Performs and records preventative maintenance on lab instrumentation and identifies problems with lab equipment.
Validates laboratory test data, enters date into LIS system, and reviews it for completeness and accuracy.
Report data to Physicians, Infection Control, and regulatory agencies as required.
Performs quality control, calibrations, and validations on test assays.
Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, and storage per regulations.
Evaluates specimen?s quality for testing and troubleshoots deviations.
Participates in QA and QI projects and collects data.
Assists with training and education of lab assistants and waived testing personnel.
Maintains competency and education in general lab practices.

Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

One year of experience as a MLT or Lab Assistant in a high complexity lab preferred.

Certification(s):
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
