The Center for Neurocritical Care at the Northwell Health System and the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is seeking a neurointensivist to join its expanding neurocritical care program with an opportunity available at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Phelps Hospital, is a 238-bed acute care community hospital, located in central Westchester County. Since its beginnings in 1956, Phelps has strived to provide its community with the finest quality healthcare. The extent of services made available to those we serve ranges from emergency services to acute care inpatient services, as well as a host of outpatient services designed to address the needs of those who make up the Phelps service area (Westchester County and surrounding communities in Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut).
About the Center for Neurocritical Care:
The Center is comprised of 17 board certified / fellowship trained neurointensivists who currently provide in-house neurocritical care coverage at North Shore University Hospital, Staten Island University Hospital, South Shore University Hospital, Phelps Hospital in Westchester County, and Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. The Center, in partnership with the Northwell Health Tele-ICU program, has developed a novel e-NeuroICU program which provides emergent neurocritical care consultations to emergency rooms and ICUs throughout the health system. Neurocritical care faculty actively participates in NIH, industry, and investigator-initiated clinical trials including StrokeNET in which Northwell participates as a regional hub, and is supported by an acute care research nurse, coordinators, and departmental director of clinical research programs. The Center participates in both UCNS and CAST accredited fellowship programs training a total of five fellows each year and is currently applying for ACGME accreditation.
About the successful candidate:
The candidate will be BE/BC in neurocritical care with strong educational, clinical, and leadership skills capable of leading a large multidisciplinary ICU team. Candidates will have clinical appointments at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level through the Zucker School of Medicine and must be eligible for licensure in the State of New York.
