The Office of Licensure, Accreditation and Regulation (OLAR) assists the organization in staying current and compliant with regulatory standards, licensure requirements and survey preparations. OLAR accomplishes this by interpreting, communicating, and educating all levels of medical center staff regarding new and revised standards/regulations.
As a Medication Safety Nurse, you will support the organization's objectives by providing ongoing coordination, support, monitoring, education, evaluation, and consulting to organization leaders in maintaining and developing the medication safety program. You will support compliance with medication safety regulations and standards set forth by Federal, State and Accreditation agencies. maintains knowledge of external medication safety issues identified and reported by the Institute for Safe Medication Practice (ISMP); prioritizes projects, coordinates action plans, and monitors/analyzes results for QAPI as it relates to medication safety, consistent with the organization's strategic goals and imperatives.?? Prepares, analyzes, and compiles statistics for reports. Assists to facilitate committee meetings as needed; assists with ethics and compliance issues as needed, assists in the investigation of patient's complaints related to medication issues and supports the department team during the survey process.
Responsible for working with departments and programs to develop, implement and support hospital strategic initiatives to continually improve medication safety practices.??
Expected to continually observe, initiate, develop and communicate necessary process improvements with medication safety management to department leadership and hospital quality leadership
Works with Nursing and Pharmacy to coordinate the collection, analysis and development of performance improvement action plans for medication errors
Coordinates the departmental Quality Analysis and Performance Improvements (QAPI) Plan, and the Medication Error Reduction Plan [MERP] between OLAR and Pharmacy
Serves as a resource to OLAR, Pharmacy leadership team, Nursing and Performance Improvement on matters of medication safety and regulatory compliance.
Experience with Epic/Electronic Health Record(EHR), Joint Commission, CDPH required.
