They function as experts in clinical practice and/or in areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities, may serve as mentors for transitioning PAs, and may provide training for health care students. Perform special procedures of greater and lesser occipital nerve blocks for the treatment of cervicogenic headache, perform special procedure of botulinum toxin injection following PREEMPT protocol for the treatment of refractory migraine headaches, and perform sphenopalantine ganglia blocks using TX360 catheter for multiple headache syndromes. Assist clinical staff with development and management of the Headache Infusion Center, including establishing and following proper protocols for medications administered via infusion. Assist in managing headache clinic patients via phone message, electronic secure messaging, and Telehealth including medication refills and medication adjustments. Provide patient, family and community education and counseling in preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
