Job Summary:
We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE, II to Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients at Duke Children's and Internal Medicine North Durham in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care in ambulatory settings, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the nurse manager, charge nurse or practice manager.
Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriately nursing actions taken and patient responses.
Perform patient intake including: obtaining vital signs, administering survey tools, data collection, hearing and vision screens, assisting patients with ambulation/toileting, reviewing patient medications
Completing procedural tasks including: administering vaccinations and medications according to protocols and provider orders, ear lavages, dental varnishing, specimen collection and correct labeling, assisting with clinic-performed procedures (including EKGs and orthostatic blood pressures), reviewing pre-printed material with patient/family, bill for nursing procedures.
Practice Development: Participates in various clinic committees to organize and improve patient care and serves as liaison between patients and providers to communicate needs and provide patient care
Serves as a resource as needed to patients and families, providing counseling and follow-up problem solving.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team such as interpreters, clerical team, social work, Duke Well, and other members of the patients care team.
Participates in quality/performance improvement programs and projects, product evaluation, outcomes evaluation studies and/or clinical research.
Support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in the identification of clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities.
Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
Three years demonstrated clinical expertise in Newborn Nursing Care, Pediatric Primary Care, Parent Education and Telephone advice preferred.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
Job Hours:
This position for Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00pm.
