The role you’ll contribute: Responsible for working with RRT or RN, as applicable, to provide instruction and supervision for patients regarding their exercise program. Designs variety and provides individualized routines to reflect patient’s potential while considering physical limitations is an expectation. Staff offers support and guidance for risk factor modification and exercise therapy to the patient involved in the rehabilitative phases of their disease, consistent with the goals, policies and procedures of AdventHealth. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Functions efficiently and appropriately in assigned work area to ensure smooth operation of the unit and quality care. Supports and participates in marketing the outpatient Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation program, as applicable.
Coordinates exercise program including referral proceedings, orientations, scheduling, program planning and exercise supervision to achieve the goals of the department, physician and patient that is individualized to the patient. Safely adjusts patients exercise routine to facilitate meeting patient goals. Provides education, psychological support and role model to patients and families to assist them in coping with the effects of illness and returning to active, healthy lifestyle.
Maintains a safe environment for the patients. Accurate assessments (B/P, heart rate, SpO2 for cardiopulmonary units, and general condition) at rest and of participant’s response to exercise with appropriate response to any untoward responses. Consults with RN regarding participant’s medication or other clinical measures that they may not be proficient interpreting and provide appropriate response. Competently interprets Electrocardiogram (ECG) basic rhythm strips and vital sign measurements, etc. and responds appropriately.
Receives and gives report clearly to communicate patient care information, using method of the care area e.g. written and or verbal. Keeps patient’s physician, RRT and/or RN (as applicable) informed of progress and problems. Appropriately and legibly documents all communication with physician or other professionals involved with the patient’s therapy, e.g. dietician, counselor. Maintains a professional relationship with all participants. Maintains the confidentiality of employees, patients, administration and medical staff information with no infractions. Keeps supervisor or manager informed and seeks assistance and direction from appropriate individuals when confronted with unfamiliar situations to ensure deliverance of safe and effective patient care.
Participates in completing and documenting daily safety checks (equipment checks and patient education of safe use of equipment). Proactively participates in process of performance improvement team and changes care as a result of performance improvement activities. Accurately documents and monitors activities as needed. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or internship in a cardiac rehab or cardiopulmonary rehabilitation setting (appropriate to unit of hire)
Experience in leading group exercise classes
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) or
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP)
American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification (CCRP)
