Description
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Tech Supervisor, Assistant Director of Infusion and Hem/Onc Pharmacy Services, Clinic MSO, and HLT III, the Pharmacy Technician II (Float) plays a vital role in supporting ambulatory patient care.
The role involves preparing sterile products, including chemotherapy, investigational drugs, biologicals, and prescriptions, as well as maintaining inventory and workspace by ensuring proper organization and timely ordering of supplies. Additional responsibilities include assisting with medication prior authorizations and patient assistance programs, managing refill requests and patient-related communications, and performing tasks assigned by pharmacy management to support operational excellence.
Schedule: Varied shifts, depending on department needs, including weekends and holidays. This role will require you to float and travel to multiple locations.
Hourly Salary Range: $32.77 - 43.22 (Union
represented, step based salary depending on years of experience)

Qualifications
·California Pharmacy Technician License
·Knowledge of medical terminology and
pharmaceutical abbreviations.
·Knowledge of metric and apothecary systems units
to be able to read prescriptions, convert units when necessary and measure
products as appropriate.
·Knowledge of pharmaceutical generic/trade names
and dosage forms.
·Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations.
·Ability to accurately count units of product
needed to complete an order.
·Ability to accurately select correct product
needed to complete an order including product, strength, quantity, and
manufacturer.
·Skill in operating data-entry keyboard for data
entry and retrieval on computer system.
·Skill to prepare prescription label with speed
and accuracy.
·Skill in preparing intravenous solutions using
aseptic technique.
·Ability to determine appropriate syringe, set,
needle etc., to use for compounding IV solutions.
·Knowledge of cytotoxic drug therapy
handling/preparation and disposal requirements.
·Ability to work independently and follow through
on assignments with supervision.
·Skill in interacting effectively, respectfully,
and diplomatically with the public and with co-workers.
·Telephone and verbal skills to communicate
clearly and effectively.
·Ability to perform and document quality control
and cleaning procedures on pharmacy equipment.
·Ability to interpret medical information
required to perform prior authorizations.
·Ability to interpret medical information
required to perform patient assistance.
·Ability to interpret medical information
required to perform refill authorizations.
·Ability to maintain drug inventory and usage log
and order drugs as needed to maintain an appropriate supply on hand.
·Able to retrieve, interpret, and utilize
department policies and procedures effectively.
·Ability to provide own transportation to travel
to assigned community practices for float coverage.
