SUMMARY OF POSITION:
As a Physical Therapy Assistant within the Penn State Health System you will have the opportunity to work in an academic medical setting alongside a team of seasoned therapists with expertise in critical care, neuro, vestibular, orthopedic, medical and surgical interventions in adult, geriatric and pediatric populations. You will be a key member of a team of professionals that includes but is not limited to nursing, physician, respiratory therapy that is focused on addressing the immediate needs of our adult and pediatric patients admitted for acute and/or critical care needs. Experience in or a strong interest in learning and caring for pediatric patients is preferred. New or recent graduates who have a passion for working in an acute / critical care environment with a strong desire for learning and development will be considered. This role is for a Monday - Friday daytime shift covering a minimum of 1 weekend day/month and 1 Holiday/year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Associate's degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from a program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association plus 3 to 12 months of experience required.
Passage of a state licensing exam and CPR- certification required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
Able to stand and walk frequently; sit occasionally.
Able to lift/carry 0-20 frequently; 21-50 lbs occasionally.
Able to push/pull 0-35 lbs frequently; 36-75 lbs occasionally.
Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
Able to use hands for simple/firm grasping.
