Come join our exceptional Department of Neurobiology, and help lead the advancement of cutting-edge basic science research into explorations of the brain and central nervous system. This position will support the Wu Laboratory, which is engaged in research into the mechanisms of animal prosocial behavior. With guidance and supervision from the Principal Investigator, the Laboratory Assistant will assist in a variety of laboratory procedures including behavior testing, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, quantitative image analysis, and behavior annotation. Additional laboratory activities will include sharing of laboratory management including inventory control, supply ordering, preparation of general laboratory solutions, and general laboratory maintenance.

Salary range: $22.02-$25.90 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
Proficiency in performing general lab maintenance and ability to rigorously follow laboratory protocols.
Working knowledge of major software applications including Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), graphics programs (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator), web search engines (e.g. PubMed), reference managers (Endnote) and e-mail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to maintain accurate documentation and results.
Knowledge of safety measures in handling and disposal of laboratory waste.
Ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
Strongly Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Biology, Neuroscience, or related with laboratory coursework.
Skill in preparing standard laboratory solutions, buffers and histological reagents.
Skill in animal behavior testing, and knowledge of regulations for proper animal care and euthanasia.
