What you will do

Ensures compliance with standards of patient care and consistently seeks opportunities to improve patient care monitoring quality NDNQI and Maintains regulatory readiness and evaluates quality. Understands hospital-wide objectives and priorities; able to link unit goals and operations to institutional goals. Analyzes and evaluates overall patient care program.
Actively participates in the budget process; prepares annual patient care area operating and capital budget appropriate to department’s care goals Keeps budget on a monthly basis; able to explain any budget variance. Directs the preparation and monitoring of individual nursing department(s) budget(s). Works within system of scheduling/staffing to provide resources Works with materials management in the ongoing evaluation of supplies/equipment to assure cost-effective and adequate patient care items.
Recommends establishment or revision of policies, procedures, and methods and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Advises and assists the Administrative Director of Acute Care Services and the Physician Vice President for Acute Care Services in planning and developing administrative and operational policies and procedures, facilities use and planning, and strategic planning in accordance with ongoing quality improvement processes. Prepares periodic reports concerning patient care service.
Responsible for patient and team member experience. Reviews experience/engagement data, develops, implements and oversees action plans to ensure achievement of objectives for continued improvement. Responsible for department recruiting and retention of team members.
Responsible for communication with service line leaders and team members including, administrative announcements, discussion of new programs, review of policies/procedures, quality improvement initiatives, problem resolution, staff issues and follow-through on issues.
Provides leadership to department Managers in recruiting, interviewing, hiring: collaborates with HR department. Ensures effective staff performance evaluation system, provides constructive feedback. Maintains appropriate standards for discipline and termination.
Consults with Administrative Directors, Magnet Program leaders, and collaborates with system leaders and others to coordinate nursing activities organization wide.
Evaluates the education and training needs of personnel and directs development and implementation of in-service programs in coordination with the Learning and Talent Development team. In collaboration with department Managers, oversees staff competency process. Coaches and teaches staff, consistently provides leadership and clinical expertise.
Responsible for ensuring follow up and resolution of grievances, patient/family complaints and events entered into the organizational reporting system. Routinely conducts leadership rounds with patients/families and team members.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes, regulations and appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care and department activities. Provide support and administration to maintain Magnet designation. Provide support and administration to maintain Perinatal Certification from The Joint Commission.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). Required
Master's Degree Nursing or related field. Completed upon hire. Required
Experience Qualifications
5 years Clinical experience in the Emergency Department. Required
2 years Management experience in a hospital clinical setting. Required
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required
Certification in nursing specialty, education, patient safety, etc. is preferred.
