Job Description
University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a full time Optometrist who will provide comprehensive eye care and neuro-ophthalmic consultations as part of the University of Minnesota's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences. Department practice sites are located on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities medical campus, as well as several community-based satellite clinics. The successful applicant will hold the status of adjunct assistant professor within the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Practice Details:
- Provide comprehensive optometric care as part of a multi sub-specialty ophthalmology clinic
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing ocular disease and refractive error, prescribe corrective lenses and provide treatment including therapeutic drugs
- Provide consultations regarding neuro-ophthalmic disorders or concerns
- Participate in educational activities including work with optometry and medical students, ophthalmology residents, lecturing at department events, and possible research collaborations
- Practice site on University of Minnesota campus, as well as community-based satellite clinics
- Fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC)
- Support staff including ophthalmic assistants and technicians
- Full array of imaging tools including: OCT, visual field, topography, autorefractor, ERG, anterior segment and fundus photography, B-scan
- No weekend or overnight call coverage is required
Qualifications:
- A qualified candidate will be a graduate of a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree program
- Candidate must be licensed or have the ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Optometry licensure
- DPA/TPA Certification
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification
- Residency in ocular disease or 5 years+ experience in OD/MD practice setting
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented and self-motivated
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with complex ocular and systemic disease and neuro-ophthalmic disorders
Experience in urgent eye care

The full-time salary range is $120,000 - $150,000 commensurate with practice experience and may also include incentive compensation or additional specialty-specific compensation components. Salary prorated based on FTE.
