The role you’ll contribute:
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse works collaboratively to support the optimization of patient throughput by monitoring appropriate and timely patient placement. The RN will be overseeing staffing needs between the hours of 4pm and 4am utilizing the current software system. The RN provides self-directed, effective nursing care to groups of patients as directed, not limited to the observation, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care in the recovery of post-procedural patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work collaboratively with all departments in addressing patient placement and throughput.
Evaluate patients’ needs and facility capabilities, facilitating admissions and transfers with timely notification of departments.
Provide frequent communication to the House Supervisor regarding facility flow throughout the shift.
Knowledgeable of emergency management plans; assist as directed by the House Supervisor.
Make rounds on patient care units to gather real-time census information to help expedite admission and discharges.
Monitor census, coordinate staffing, following up on absences and/ or schedules changes.
Performs nurse leader rounding in the Emergency Department including documentation of such.
Receive and review sepsis alerts, ensuring all orders are completed.
Participate in quality and process improvement activities.
Assist with post-anesthesia care of the patients receiving all types of anesthesia.
The RN practices in accordance with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and law.
Demonstrates competent technical skills and operational knowledge of all equipment used.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Organizational and multi-tasking skills
Effective verbal and oral communication
Core measure and HCAHPS knowledge
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduate of a school of nursing
Three years of prior nursing experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
BSN
Prior critical care or recovery experience
Supervisor or charge RN experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current Georgia RN license upon hire
BLS upon hire
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
PALS within three months of hire
ACLS within three months of hire
