DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The SCMG Rheumatology clinic deals with the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases with arthritis and other diseases of the joints, muscles, and bones. This clinic sees patients impacted by many conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, psoriatic arthritis, and other autoimmune disease. The clinic works closely with other specialties within SCMG and hospital departments. The Rheumatology Clinic is in Bend, Oregon with a satellite clinic in Redmond, OR.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Rheumatologist Advance Practice Provider will evaluate, treat, and manage patients in our Rheumatology Clinic in collaboration with the Rheumatology Physician. The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical/technical competence, solid clinical decision making and critical thinking skills, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for personal and professional development and competency validation. Provides quality patient and family centered care as a member of the health care team in accordance with SCHS mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. APPs should have previous Rheumatology experience. The APP will have their own patient panel.
Work schedule: The Rheumatologist Advance Practice Provider will work a minimum of 40 hours per week or be adjust per contractual FTE.
Call Schedule: APP will participate in clinic call, which is shared equally by all providers in the rheumatology clinic.
APP Practice Location: APP will render the Professional Services at such SCHS Facilities as may be directed by SCMG, and at such other facilities and locations as may be established by SCHS or SCMG from time to time. It is anticipated that the primary work locations will be as follows:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: (May perform additional duties of similar complexity within SCHS as required or assigned)
Clinical Expectations:
Practice and role model excellence in the Rheumatology domains of diagnosis, aligning treatment goals to patient values, definitive treatment, supportive care treatment, follow-up care, promote good health and prevent illness.
Practice medicine within the scope of license, training, and credentialing. Cooperate with other SCHS providers and caregivers to insure optimal patient care.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care while demonstrating expert knowledge of evidence-based, Rheumatology care.
Collaborate with other members of the SCMG interdisciplinary teams and referring providers to ensure a world-class patient experience.
Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with SCHS policies and procedures for medication administration.
Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams and identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
Performs advanced procedures consistent with privileges and competency validation, including but not limited to: infusion supervision, ultrasound, DXA scans
Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
Monitors effectiveness of plan of care and documents reassessment and response to treatment to determine effectiveness of plan of care.
Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed or with supervision if necessary.
Performs routine bedside or clinical procedures.
Provides counseling and teaching, related to the management and prevention of disease, for patients and family members.
Provides emergency care, as required, according to basic life support and advances cardiac life support protocols.
Document all patient care in the proper form and in a timely manner in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory agencies.
Delivers first rate customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, and is timely, efficient and accurate, and courteous.
Administrative Expectations:
Document all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete all necessary tasks in compliance with health system policies and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Be cognizant of SCHS and SCMG organizational structures.
Participates in SCMG provider meetings and assists in policy formation for SCMG and providers practice.
Maintains current clinical knowledge and skills through regular CME activity. Must attest to having adequate (CME) to meet maintenance of board certification and compliance with MSO rules and continuing privileges without restriction.
Maintains current, unrestricted licensure and appropriate certifications to maintain privileges at a St. Charles Health System hospital sufficient to permit performance of job duties.

Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity. Must attest to having obtained 60 hours of Category 1 continuing medical education (CME) relevant to the practitioners current medical practice over the prior two-year period of work.
Keep all licenses and appropriate certifications current and unrestricted.
Maintain active privileges at a St. Charles Health System hospital sufficient to permit performance of job duties.
Increase understanding and collaboration throughout the medical community regarding providers chosen specialty.
Participate in SCMG provider meetings and assist in policy formation for SCMG and provider practice.
Maintains compliance of hospitals Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, as required by SCHS Board of Directors.
EDUCATION
Required:
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
Physician Assistant requires NCCPA certification. Nurse Practitioner requires AANC certification. If Physician Assistant, ability to establish and maintain a Practice Agreement with a Supervising Physician.
Complete annual fire/safety, etc. education in-services as required.
Attend mandatory educational offerings as described in SCHS policies/procedures and/or as required by other regulatory bodies.
Complete annual CME as required to maintain license and appropriate Board certification.
Complete by assigned due date Computer Based Learning modules.
Physician Assistant requires NCCPA certification. Nurse Practitioner requires AANC, NCC or AANP, AMCB certification. If Physician Assistant, ability to establish and maintain a Practice Agreement with a Supervising Physician through OMB.
Unrestricted Federal DEA number.
Unrestricted ability to participate in Medicare / Medicaid, or other federal or state governmental health care programs.
Valid drivers license and the ability to meet SCHS driving requirements.
Current BLS certification required.
Additional certifications may be required based on privileges granted to provider by Medical Staff Services at SCHS Inpatient locations.
Preferred:
Oregon License as PA/FNP
Federal DEA number registered in Oregon
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Experience using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) software.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and professionally represent St. Charles Health System.
Experience working in a team environment and proven ability to collaborate, manage facilitation and consensus building among health care professionals and agencies to achieve expected results.
>2 years experience in hospital and outpatient practice environments providing care in Rheumatology Medicine
Preferred:
Five years active practice in Rheumatology Medicine
Epic EMR software experience.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
