Pediatric Metabolic Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner interested in rare diseases to function within a family-centered care environment, in the Division of Metabolic Disorders. With demonstrated expertise, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will work with a group of four physicians, two nurse practitioners, three metabolic dietitians, four genetic counsellors, two case managers and one social worker to offer expert, innovative and compassionate care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with rare diseases at CHOC. Practicing within developed Standardized Procedures and Process Protocols, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will plan, implement, and evaluate the care plan in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Responsibilities will also include coordination of confirmatory testing, initial evaluation, and follow-up of patients with positive newborn screens for metabolic disorders, identified by the State of California Newborn Screening program. Finally, there are several clinical research and clinical trial opportunities to participate in, for career development and advancement, including therapeutic clinical trials investigating novel small molecule therapy, mRNA therapy and gene therapy. The successful candidate will have 5 years of Pediatric Nursing experience as well as 1+ years of clinical experience as a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. In addition, the successful candidate will be a CA licensed. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills.
