Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination.
Responsibilities
Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.
Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation. Performs and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Performs special stains and immunohisotchemistry, (manual or automated), after reagent preparation.
Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities.
Trained to complete tissue gross examination as needed.
Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493.
