The Patient Registration Representative II – Front Office, works under general supervision performing all tasks related to patient registration including securing and calculating upfront patient liabilities in an efficient hospitable manner. Works with the Office Team to maximize front office efficiency and perform various clerical procedures associated with routine patient encounters. Troubleshoots, resolves problems and maintains positive relationships with patients, family members, visitors, and fellow employees. “Serves as a role model” within the department and throughout the organization, always ensuring patients are first. Required to continue to develop registration and financial counseling skills by learning the fundamental requirements and expectations of the role.

Performs all tasks related to pre-registration, and registering of inpatients and outpatients including securing and calculating upfront collections with co-pays, and co-insurance in an efficient, accurate and hospitable manner to ensure that patient, physician and hospital needs are met. “Serves as a role model” within the department and throughout the organization, always ensuring patients are first. Required to continue to develop registration and financial counseling skills by learning the fundamental requirements and expectations of the financial counselor role along with the various other jobs within the financial counseling department. The Emergency Financial Representative will continue to enhance their registration knowledge along with the fundamental financial counseling skills required and expected of the financial counselor role, which is inclusive of the diverse financial programs offered at PIH Health.

2+ year of medical billing/ medical office /hospital work experience preferred
Medical terminology knowledge strongly preferred
Insurance knowledge preferred
Ability to multi- task in a fast and high pressured environment
Stringent adherence to all HIPAA laws
Strong typing skills 40 and up wpm is required
Strong analytical skills, problem solving. The ability to act and decide accordingly.

Excellent Customer service and phone skills with a background in the medical industry
