The Position at a Glance
Location: Sorrento Valley (primary location) + may have clinic at any one of the other CALHNS clinics.
Job Type: Full-Time (8am-5pm)
Reports To: Medical Director / Practice Administrator
The Director of Audiology is responsible for leading and managing the audiology department within California Head & Neck Specialists. This role involves overseeing clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, implementing best practices, and driving program growth. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced audiologist with strong leadership abilities and a commitment to patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
Provide comprehensive audiologic evaluations, including diagnostic hearing assessments, vestibular testing, and tinnitus assessments.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including hearing aid fittings, cochlear implant evaluations, and auditory rehabilitation.
Ensure compliance with best practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards in audiology services.
Collaborate with ENT physicians, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
Operational & Administrative Leadership
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the audiology department, including scheduling, workflow management, and patient experience enhancement.
Lead and supervise a team of audiologists, audiology assistants, and support staff, providing mentorship and training.
Develop and implement protocols to improve efficiency, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
Manage department budget, including revenue cycle management, reimbursement optimization, and cost control strategies.
Program Development & Growth
Develop strategic initiatives to expand audiology services, including marketing efforts, community outreach, and provider referrals.
Identify and implement new service offerings, such as tele-audiology, pediatric audiology, or balance disorder programs.
Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance audiology service offerings.
Implement quality assurance initiatives and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
Salary and Benefits
Minimum salary: $130,000 per year plus commission and a $10,000 sign-on bonus. Qualifications
Education & Certification:
Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) required.
Active state licensure as an Audiologist.
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from ASHA or Board Certification from ABA preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years of clinical audiology experience (ENT setting preferred).
3+ years of leadership/management experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience with hearing aid dispensing, cochlear implants, vestibular assessments, and tinnitus management preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and implement operational improvements.
Proficiency in audiologic diagnostics and treatment planning.
Experience with EHR systems and audiology-specific software.
Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
