We are seeking a Clinical Nurse in the Duke Urology Clinic, located in Raleigh, NC to Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Room Patients and intake to include medications, history and vital signs. Complete orders as per provider:
Uroflow and bladder scans.
Urine samples - POC and send to lab
Suture/Staple removal
Catheter irrigation
Delegate tasks and supervise activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
Prepare and assist with procedures
Cystoscopies
Vasectomies
Prostate Biopsies
Nurse Visits - to include: order entry and chart review.
Trial and Voids
Monthly Catheter and SPT changes
PTNS
Stent on a String
Drain removals
Uroflow/PVR
Injection teaching
Intermittent catheterization teaching
Catheter irrigation
Team Inbasket messages - to include:
Calling patients with results
Cardiac clearance
FMLA/Work excuse
Home health and DME/catheter supply requests.
Review future clinic schedules, call patients for upcoming appointments and procedures
Clean and stock rooms. Monitor for supply and medication expirations dates. Unbox ordered supplies and confirm delivery amounts.
High Level disinfection, Trophon and instrument sterilization
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
Job Schedule:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Shifts are 4 days per week from 0700-1730.
