About the Role:
Job Summary
Manages the day-to-day operation of all corrective and preventive maintenance programs for all main campus and system level facilities, in addition to managing the mechanical systems and grounds for all system leased facilities. Assists with preparation of budget materials, manages individual projects assigned, and acts in the absence of the Director. Manages engineering staff in their daily jobs to maintain the hospital in proper operational standard, code and safety. Responsible for planning, managing, maintaining, and inspecting remodeling and construction projects for the hospital, ensuring all projects are completed in a timely manner and conform to plan specifications and codes. Also, obtaining bids and negotiating contract pricing prior to delivering to Director of Facilities Engineering. Works to maintain the facility in compliance with national, state and local code as well as DNV standards.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree required or in lieu of a bachelor's degree, High School Degree plus a minimum of Five (5) years in a Facility Engineering leadership role, and Ten (10) years of industrial/facility maintenance in a health care setting
Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of experience in industrial/facility maintenance in a health care setting plus experience in a leadership role required.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Building trades skills. Deep understanding of a building's entire infrastructure, encompassing electrical, HVAC, plumbing and structural systems. Strong understanding of facility design and construction.
Good management and supervisory skills. Develops policies, procedures, and emergency plans, and manage teams of engineers.
Good interpersonal skills.
College level or technical school training in building technology, plumbing, electrical, high-pressure boilers, chillers, emergency generators, building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Knowledge of DNV requirements and State Code.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Manages all daily operations of the department. Oversees maintenance of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems at assigned facilities. Reviews work accomplished to ensure quality. Evaluates and recommends repairs and replacement of major equipment, including any major utility or systems problems. Ensures all work orders are processed and completed in a timely fashion. Manages Building Maintenance Program (CMMS) including physical appearance of all buildings
Provides direct management per department organizational structure. Ensures the department has an effective educational program for all personnel. Ensures adherence to all DNV Requirements, Building Codes and all other regulatory agencies having jurisdiction over NGHS.
Manages renovation projects as assigned. Assures that projects are estimated accurately, and that proposal or bids are obtained as required. Assures projects are executed meeting schedule and budget, design, bidding, and construction. Ensures that all projects are closed out with accurate cost summary, optimal resource allocation, adherence to timelines, budget management, and quality control, ultimately ensuring the facility meets safety, operational, and sustainability standards
Manages the entire preventative maintenance program. Assures proper documentation and quality of work being performed by all department personnel assigned. Makes sure new equipment and facilities are added to the pm system.
Manages budget preparation and researched budget variances. Management of the departmental operational budget preparation, budget execution or implementation and budget accountability. Ensures staffing levels meet budget and productivity requirements. Contributes to the preparation, updates and helps prioritize the department's short-term and long-term capital equipment plan. Submits capital budget requests to the Director annually.
