About the Role:
Job Summary
Serves as a lead team member while participating in revenue cycle activities to include obtaining and entering accurate patient demographics, insurance verification, charge capture and collections. This role also includes quality monitoring to ensure clean claim processing. The PAS Team Lead is integral to the overall patient experience by facilitating patient through-put, ensuring exceptional customer service and handling conflict resolution within the assigned department(s). May assist in the hiring and orientation of new employees and may assist in the annual evaluation process. Works collaboratively with members of team to provide quality services to proactively support the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience: Two (2) years previous hospital registration/business office experience required, previous team lead experience desirable.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Contributes to the productive and effective operations of the assigned registration areas to enhance the success of the department and the organization.
Performs quality audits on PAS team to ensure registration accuracy.
Confirms insurance coverage and may obtain authorizations if applicable. Explains regulatory financial requirements to the patients or responsible party and collects deposits or deductible amounts as required.
May act as a Supervisor, as required, or upon absence of supervisor.
Orients new employees to the department and acts as a resource for staff to resolve/handle difficult situations or answer questions.
May provide feedback for performance evaluations of staff, provide input into hiring and disciplinary actions.
Assists in maintaining proper staffing levels by managing department schedules.
Working knowledge of all areas of responsibility.
Participates in meetings and may serve on committees representing the department which could include multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
Enters data into system for registration, pre-certification, financial counseling, billing, and patient tracking.
Works according to standard operating procedures during system downtimes. Serves as the point person during scheduled downtimes.
May have additional department specific duties assigned as necessary.
Responsible for batching monies for deposits, updating, and maintaining payment logs.
Ensures and provides communication to departments, patients, physicians, offices personnel, and management; Provides communication immediately to management regarding concerns and anomalies.
Demonstrates excellent detail management as well as possesses strong self-motivational skills; demonstrating consistent, reliable, credible, respectful, and timely service to patients, physicians, offices, and other clients.
Understands and is able to utilize all PAS systems accurately and efficiently.
Proactively responds to safety, security issues/incidents, and disaster management.
In addition to the above criteria, the PAS Lead will be responsible for and must be proficient in ALL job duties of a Patient Access Representative. These duties include, but are not limited to: the accurate capturing and documenting of all pertinent patient demographics, subscriber, and insurance information i.e.: patient Policy ID numbers, subscribers, guarantor, payer address, phone number, contact information etc., obtaining copay, deductible, out of pocket, co-insurance amounts as deemed necessary by the insurance company and hospital policy; ensuring that all necessary questionnaires and forms are completed according to pre-determined requirements by government or regulatory agencies.
